As Director of the Marketing Department at the Romanian Student Association Groningen, I combined marketing leadership with hands-on creative work. As the association’s sole graphic designer and creative director, I shaped its visual presence and brought graphic design and video content together to promote events, share stories and connect Romanian students.

Objectives
Build a recognisable student association, give its events a distinctive presence and create content that helps Romanian students in Groningen feel connected.

Challenges
Balance department leadership with sole responsibility for graphic design, keeping varied events and content formats connected through a clear creative direction.

Solutions
Guide the marketing team through a shared creative direction, combining distinctive graphic design with video content that brings the association’s community to life.
My creative direction centred on the people behind the association: young Romanians building a life in Groningen. I balanced a recognisable association identity with expressive event visuals, giving each occasion its own personality. Across graphics and video, the aim was to make RSA feel approachable, energetic and connected to student life.

As RSA’s only graphic designer, I created the visual materials supporting its events and communications. From party posters to cultural event announcements, each design responded to a different mood and purpose. The work gave individual events room to stand out while building a recognisable visual presence for the association.

Leading the marketing department meant thinking beyond individual posts. I brought graphic design and video content into a shared approach, combining event information with the people, moments and atmosphere behind RSA. Graphics gave announcements clarity and character, while video offered a more immediate glimpse into the community.
